I want to share my unique style of handmade, felted gnomes with you.
Gnomes for your Homes started with my long time love affair with wool. I have been spinning wool since I was 15 and I was doing crochet and knitting long before that. It took me years to decide to take the soft, beautiful fleece and stab at it to make it felt. Once I did, it worked and it has been my main means of artistic outlet since. I LOVE making custom orders. I must admit, that most people have a gnome inside waiting to be realised into a felted representation. I have managed to deliver a great many custom gnomes to customers willing to let me in their creative heads. It is great fun to collaborate with people from around the world to create a gnome. I constantly keep the customer updated on my progress with pictures and detailed communication. I will make as many gnomes as needed to get the perfect tomte for you. At Gnomes For Your Homes, I sell hand felted gnomes (or tomten) that would be perfect to sit on your shelf all year round. Each gnome has been hand felted, inside and out, starting with a wool base.
I add white or hand dyed Wensleydale locks for his beard before adding a flesh-coloured Merino nose and cheeks. More locks are added to make bushy, wild hair.
The pièce de résistance is the tall hat that I felt using hand carded and blended mixed fibres (such as super soft merino, tussah silk, baby llama, Raimie, Bamboo, Banana, Linen, FIreStar and Angelina (sparkly) fibres.
At the end, He gets feet and a wood disk so he can stand. Voila, all done.
Each gnome is inspired by colours and textures that I come across in my life. They are all very special.
